Snipped from TECHTV's "Password Anime" Newsletter... Three new series!

The SoulTaker

A young boy finds he is becoming something else. Something evil. Something dangerous.

Some time in the not so distant future Kirihara Heavy Industries, a powerful corporation, has gained control over most of the world. Deep in the city, a young boy named Kyosuke has his life shatter when his mother plunges a sharp knife into his heart for no apparent reason. As he recovers, his body reveals a dangerous secret proving his past is a lie -- and reveals his true identity as the powerful SoulTaker!

Kyosuke searches for Runa, the sister he never knew, and for the truth about his ability to transform. But Kirihara Heavy Industries will employ as much violence as possible to prevent Kyosuke from learning anything.

The 13 episodes of "The SoulTaker" combine a rich, baroque visual style, grand action sequences and a futuristic mystery that takes our hero through many twists and turns as he learns about himself.

Premiers Tuesday, June 24 at 12 a.m.

Gate Keepers 21

Thirty-one years have passed since the defeat of the Invaders in 1969 Tokyo by the original teenage gang known as Gate Keepers. The Far Eastern branch of the AEGIS (Alien Exterminating Global Intercept System) Network, still holing up in underground Tokyo, has been working hard for its country's protection ever since.

Lately, strange things have been occurring around Tokyo. The first member of the 21st Century Gate Keepers, Ayane Isuzu, must find and recruit a new member before it's too late. Without new members the Invaders -- who embody the dark, immoral, valueless sides of humanity -- will surely take Tokyo this time.

Fans of the first "Gate Keepers" series (this is its sequel) and newcomers alike will be swallowed up in the dark and gorgeously animated near-future world of this 6-part series.

Premiers Wednesday, July 16 at 12 a.m. Eastern

Boogiepop Phantom

Everyone knows about Boogiepop: meet her one dark night and you disappear. People tell each other the stories and laugh: no one believes that she exists in this day and age. Still, there are some strange things going on just below the surface. The glass shatters. Time stands still. There is something in the darkness. Are you safe?

Five years ago, there was a string of grisly murders that shook the city to its core. Now, in the present, psychic echoes reverberate...

Like "Serial Experiments Lain", "Boogiepop Phantom" is a complex and fascinating puzzle the viewer participates in piecing together. The twelve-episode series blends together modern horror and science fiction to tell a strange, horrifying, and moving tale.

Premiers Monday, July 28 at 12 a.m. Eastern

Fushigi Yugi and Soul Hunter on International Channel starting December

One of our favorite series, Fushigi Yugi will begin at 11 pm ET Tuesday, December 31 on the International Channel. They are planning to show the English dub (which isn't terrible).

Miaka and her friend Yui are pulled into an ancient Chinese book, The Universe of the Four Gods. Miaka and Yui are suddenly in the Empire of Konan (which looks like ancient China) and must discover the secrets of this world before they can return home. The people of Kutuo believe Miaka must be the legendary priestess of Suzaku, a girl from another world destined summon the god Suzaku and make her dreams come true... which is hard to believe since Miaka is a dizzy 15 year old girl more interested in junk-food and boys. She goes on a quest with the seven Celestial Warriors of Suzaku to summon the god Suzaku to save Konan from an invasion from the rival kingdom of Kutuo.

This adventure if filled with action, danger, magic, mystery and romance. The characters are complex and engaging. You will be pulled into the Universe of the Four Gods just like Miaka and Yui.

In addition, Soul Hunter is scheduled to begin on the International Channel on Monday, December 30. They will show the English dub.

This is still not official news and is subject to change... but if it happens, you can bet it will be something AnimeonTV recommends. Fushigi Yugi

Snipped from the press release

Kagome is a modern day young girl who lives with her family by the old Higure shrine. Unbeknownst to Kagome, she is the reincarnation of priestess Kikyo and possesses the "Jewel of Four Souls." One ill-fated day, Kagome locates an ancient well near her home and is abruptly transported through the well and into a feudal Japan, inhabited by demons and goblins. There, she encounters Inuyasha, son of a powerful demon father and a human mother, who is pinned to a tree by an enchanted arrow.

Kagome frees Inuyasha from the tree before she learns that all of the demons, including Inuyasha, are after the Jewel in her possession. To prevent the Jewel from being stolen, Kagome accidentally shoots it with the enchanted arrow, shattering it into thousands of pieces. Naraku, like Inuyasha a half-demon, seeks the pieces of the Jewel in order to become a pure demon. New allies Kagome and Inuyasha join forces with Shippo, a small fox-demon, Miroku, a fallen priest and Sango, the sole surviving demon-hunter, in order to combat Naraku and recover the fragments of the "Jewel of Four Souls."

From the AnimeonTV mailing list: AnimeonTV recommends Blue Seed... again... but this time on WAM!

Momiji Fujimiya is just a simple country girl until she discovers she is the Princess Kushinada, who's bloodline has guarded mankind against the evil Aragami for centuries. The Aragami are plants who transform into powerful monsters and are attacking Japan. Momiji joins a secret government agency to fight the monsters, and is protected by the mysterious and somewhat scary Mamoru Kusanagi. The Blue Seeds are the "souls" of the Aragami. The Aragami use Blue Seeds to transform animals into monsters and give humans superpowers. Blue Seed

This series has non-stop action, big guns, plot twists, incredible monsters with a side of romance. The English voice acting starts off a little weak, but as the series goes on it becomes quite well done. If you are enjoying the dub you should consider buying the DVD as the Japanese voice acting is excellent.

WAM! (an Encore Starz network) will be showing the entire 26 episode series (All listings for this show).

Parental warning: violence, minor profanity, sexual humor and panties.

On January 18, one of the tools that we use to generate the anime on TV listings is going away. If you have connections or want to help, please email volunteers@animeontv.com.

From a post found on alt.fan-sailor-moon:

On Thu, 06 Sep 2001 10:02:11 GMT, in alt.fan.sailor-moon "Royal Orange" <ruby_onix@@hotmail.com> wrote:

Looking over the YTV guide, there are a few changes for the fall schedule I thought I'd mention.

First Sailor Moon. After this week it's losing it's five-days-a-week 12:00 noon timeslot to The Jetsons -_-

It ran for 154 episodes and is falling just 5 episodes short of completing the series (as it is today). The last episode of SuperS should be #159 by the English numbers if I'm not mistaken.

Sailor Moon still gets to keep it's Saturday afternoon timeslot, but it's getting pushed from 3:30 to 4:30, effective on the 15th. Next Saturday's episode is number 144 (English numbering) and should continue without interruption. (And take about 15 weeks to finish the series).

Sailor Moon also seems to have a 6:00 pm Friday timeslot. It'll be at episode #132 on the 14th. Also, a reminder that #133 is "Clothes Call", the episode that was apparently pulled by YTV's distributor for some editing beyond the Cartoon Network version, and later aired in the noon timeslot (but I missed it).

SM's also got a Sunday afternoon 1:30 timeslot with some first season re-runs.

In non-Sailor Moon news, beginning on Monday, YTV's airing new episodes of Digimon (season 3) at 5:30 pm, and DragonBall Z episodes (new-to-YTV Cell saga stuff) at 8:00 pm.

Gundam Wing returns to YTV, albeit at 4:30 am. Five days a week.

They're also picked up Transformers: Car Robots. Saturday mornings at 8:30. Starting on the 15th. I think YTV got Medabots too, but I didn't notice when it's on.

I think that's about everything. YTV still has Monster Rancher, they just haven't given it a timeslot in like a year or two. And I asked about a return of Samurai Pizza Cats, but apparently YTV's contract on it ran out, so they can't air it. (For now?)

August 27, 2001

Medabots premieres on Fox on Sept. 1 @ 11AM EST. It also premieres in Canada on YTV on Sept. 3 @ 2PM EST.

August 18, 2001

From Sam @ Saiyanz Rage:

The Disney Channel will air "Kiki's Delivery Service" (Rated G). It is a story about a young witch-in-training supports herself and her feline companion via an air-courier business. More info on the story can be found  http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Bay/6800/kiki/. It will air on your Disney Channel Wednesday, August 29 at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM (EST). It was Directed and written by "Hayao Miyazaki" way back in 1989. Hayao Miyazaki is know for his hit anime movie "Princess Mononoke" world wide. Another one of Hayao Miyazaki hit animes called "My Neighbor Totoro" is playing in South Korea in theaters. I know this because I visted South Korea last month.

August 15, 2001

YTV will be re-airing Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz on August 30 at 8:30 PM E/P.

August 9, 2001

Medbots starts on Fox September 1st. Transformers: Robots in Disguise starts on Fox September 8th. Yugi-Oh starts on Kids WB September 15th.

From the Finch Family:

According to CartoonNetwork.com's schedule pages, the new season 5 episodes of DBZ will NOT begin airing on September 3rd on their anime-heavy block Toonami, as originally reported. Instead, it will start a week later on Monday, September 10th at 6:00PM (ET/PT). But there's a catch. While DBZ airs season 5 during its 6:00PM (ET/PT) time slot, season 4 will continue running at 6:30PM (ET/PT) starting with the episode "Saiyans Emerge" (because season 4 won't be finished yet after the Summer ends), and when season 4 is done, season 5 episodes of DBZ will air back-to-back on Toonami.

Thanks to Sam of SZR (and my masterful editing for the preschool-like grammar he puts into all of his reports ^_-) for the article.

June 17, 2001

Gonna pull a Drudge, and will say that Toonami will showing Sailor Stars starting July 27 according to a message that was posted on our mailing list:

"Dear Toonami Fans: Ever since we began airing Sailor Moon S and Super S during our Toonami block of programming, we have been receiving anxious letters from Sailor Moon fans wondering just one thing: Will Sailor Moon Sailor Stars be dubbed? We've repeatedly stated that we can't actually dub the episodes ourselves, but we've promised Cloverway, the company that is currently in charge of the dubbing, that once they give Stars to us, we will air it. Well, we've finally received all 34 episodes of the Sailor Moon Stars series. We have plans to begin airing them on July 27th!"

June 16, 2001

We watched a weeks worth of Sailor Moon SuperS yesterday, and realized that we are nearing the end of the series on Cartoon Network. Therefore the weekly recommendation has changed mid-week. By my calculations,  the last episode should be on Thursday, but when I checked on Toonami I didn't get the episode titles that matched what I expected. The episode on Tuesday is listed as Dental Dilemma, which sounds more like episode 153 Kyoufu no Haishasan? PallaPalla no Yakata [A Dentist of Terror? PallaPalla's House] than episode 164 Golden Crystal Shutsugen! Neherenia no Maryoku [The Golden Crystal Appears! Neherenia's Spell], and Thursday is TBA! What is up with that?

The original weekly recommendation was:

Tenchi Universe is back on Cartoon Network Toonami.

Watch it, then compare and contrast Ryoko between Tench Muyo, Tenchi Universe and Tenchi in Tokyo in 25 words or less on the AnimeonTV mailing list...

June 15, 2000

Sorry for the delay in annoucing the contest winner. The winner has now been chosen and will be contacted by e-mail. Thanks to all who entered.

One of the reasons why updates have been slow in coming is that DK, one of the webmasters of the has recently moved and is finally settling into his new place. There should be a few updates this weekend (hopefully ^_^).

May 19, 2000

According to Anime on DVD, Bandai is going to be showing Blue Submarine No. 6 on the Cartoon Network. No other details were given. This makes it the second Bandai property to be shown on television, with Gundam Wing being the first. It's very exciting news!

May 15, 2000

It's official! Tenchi Muyo will be showing on the Cartoon Network starting June 5 in their Toonami block according to a recent press release form Viz. They will be showing both TV series plus the OAV series. This gives people who get CN something to look forward to afer the first run of Gundam Wing finished last week.

May 5, 2000

YTV has a link to their Gundam Wing section, however the link does not work as of this update. Hopefully it will be working very soon.

The following message was posted to rec.arts.anime.misc yesterday regarding Escaflowne being shown on Fox Kids:

Hello again all,

As promised, I called up Bandai and spoke to them about Escaflowne being on Fox Kids. My pal, Richard, told me that the announcement of Escaflowne being on FOX Kids was news to him. There's been NO official word stating that Escaflowne would be on FOX Kids as of yet. Richard went on to tell me that what happened was at the press conference stating the acquisition of Meitantei Conan for Fox Family Channel, the person heading those projects (who also runs FOX Kids,) spoke of Escaflowne. I believe that somewhere along the lines some things got mixed up and people took his statement to mean that Escaflowne has been purchased by FOX. I wouldn't rule it totally out of the question, but as it stands right now Bandai says Escaflowne has NOT been bought by FOX Kids, and they will refuse to comment on the entire situation beyond this point.

There you have it. Talk to ya all later
